Winter is far from over in the Rocky Mountains!

Snowy, blustery weather outside makes the idea of curling on the couch with some tea and knitting sound even more appealing. The snow storm that local meteorologists talked about all week finally arrived, just a day delayed. Looking outside this morning I was greeted with 8 inches of fresh, wet snow. Everything looks so beautiful! It is also cold, and the wind whipping between houses and trees makes the snow stick to everything. Snowflakes especially like sticking to my warm hand knit shawl! At least the over sized shawl keeps me cozy as I shovel a path through the yard for our puppy. Special thanks to my sister for modeling the shawl!

Wavedeck shawl, spread out to showcase the pattern and color.

The shawl pattern is Wavedeck by Kate Atherley. You can find the pattern as a Ravelry download. It’s a half Pi shawl construction, based off of the Pi Shawl by Elizabeth Zimmermann. What better day to wear it than Pi Day!

I used the soft acrylic Red Heart with Love yarn. It is soft against the skin and I don’t worry about it getting wet because it is acrylic and not wool. The shawl squishes up perfectly to fold around my shoulders and neck, and it also looks great with a shawl pin.

I’m taking advantage of being stuck at the house with all the snow, and am picking up where I left off on my latest baby sweater. Both the front and back and now two sleeves are completed! I am ready to join all the pieces together at the underarm. The end is in sight!
